This presentation explores how China and Japan managed to improve their bilateral relations during the era of Sino – US confrontation. Russia’s influence on the Sino-US agreements and Japan’s trilateral relations will also be taken into account during the lecture.

Professor Kawashima will explain Vice President Pence's speech about China, which was held in October 4th 2018, and will take a closer look on the transition of China's foreign policy in connection with Xi Jinping's message to the world from 2016 and future provisional image in 2049.

Besides the Chinese's foreign policy transition, the Abe administration towards China regarding the Japan's proposal to China for maintaining the dialogue on intellectual property rights.
