Veronika Bílková, the head of the Centre for International Law, was appointed the new Secretary General of the European Society of International Law (ESIL) during the 14th annual conference of the ESIL, held in Manchester, UK, on 13-15 September 2018. It is the first time that this position is held by a person based in the CEE region. Congratulations!

IIR Co-Edits Special Issue of Energy Policy!
Lukáš Tichý and Petr Kratochvíl will be the guest editors of the upcoming special issue of the prestigious research journal Energy Policy (impact factor 4.039). The special issue on “Energy Security and Policies of the V4 Countries: Between the West and Russia” is to be published at the end of the next year, i.e. 2019. The other guest co-editors of the issue will be András György Deák from the Institute of World Economics, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Centre for Economic and Regional Studies (HAS CERS) and Mariusz Ruszel from Rzeszow University of Technology.

Dr. Matúš Halás has become a new member of our team at the IIR and a senior researcher at our Centre for European Security. He previously worked in professional military education, as a lecturer in strategic studies at the Baltic Defence College in Tartu (Estonia) and as an assistant professor at the Institute of European Studies and International Relations in Bratislava (Slovakia).
