The Pontis Foundation: Partly Disrupting the Development Discourse Through Partnership
New article by Tomáš Profant was published online in Forum for Development Studies. The article analyses the hierarchising and sanctifying effects of the development discourse. First, it presents this discourse using secondary sources and then it applies critical discourse analysis to several texts and interviews to analyse whether the Slovak non-governmental development organization (NGDO) the Pontis Foundation follows the development discourse in terms of sanctifying development and hierarchising cultures.

Devadesátiny profesora Otto Picka
Vážený pan profesor Otto Pick slaví tento týden 90. narozeniny. Chtěli bychom mu tímto co nejsrdečněji poblahopřát a připomenout jeho bohatou životní dráhu. Jak však na jedné stránce popsat život člověka, který toho tolik dokázal? Od bojů ve druhé světové válce, přes práci pro BBC a šéfování československého vysílání rádia Svobodná Evropa, po bohatou akademickou kariéru a získání profesorského titulu či politické působení na postu prvního náměstka ministra zahraničních věcí. Pro nás, pracovníky Ústavu mezinárodních vztahů, však bylo nejzásadnější období 1993 - 1998, kdy působil na postu ředitele ÚMV, zasloužil se zásadním způsobem o jeho rozvoj a vždy jej i nadále podporoval z pozice svých dalších funkcí. Nejen proto bychom mu tímto rádi jménem celého Ústavu popřáli vše nejlepší.
