The Czech Perspectives on the Maghreb and the Middle East
"There has been a long history of relationship between the Czech Republic and the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA). Although this relationship was not uncompliated, especially due to strategic reorientation of Czechoslovakia/the Czech Republic after the dissolution of the former Soviet bloc, the Czech Republic has maintained reasonably balanced, stable ad drelative strong relationships with the countries of the region including regular political consultations with representatives of most of them," writes Michael Brtnický, our Associate Research Fellow, in his contribution to the publication "The V4 and the Arab Middle East: Issues and Relations." This volume, edited by Erzsébet N. Rózsa, who was a visiting Visegrad scholar at our Institute, was published by the Institute of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Hungary with the support of the Standard Grant Program of the International Visegrad Fund.

Particular consideration was to be given to the differing historical experiences, public opinions, economic relations, and energy- and foreign policy of the Visegrad countries. Our Director, Petr Kratochvíl is, together with Věra Řiháčková, author of one of the contributions to this report.
